Pedagogy

The communicative strategies found in this review could be tested out through an intervention but getting further details of teachers’ feedback and attention, group work and use of TLMs, demonstration and explanation in large classrooms. Teacher education Investigations of the effectiveness of training should explore pedagogy holistically as constituting teachers’ thinking, including their knowledge, both content and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), their practices and the impact of these on students’ outcomes and with a narrower focus on a particular subject. Studies looking specifically at how teacher educators are trained, how they develop their own practice and PCK over time or how they develop a community of practice through collaboration in networks and individual and collective reflection, would fill a visible research gap. Further research is needed to take a longer view of how peer support works, its cost-effectiveness and the factors that supported successful peer support in order to strengthen the evidence.

Instructional Leadership

There is no denying that my administrative duties will probably test the realm of many possibilities from the operational to the political side of things. Whatever challenges, both generic and unique that may come; there will always be a dedication to my responsibility of being an instructional leader. In these times of relentless high-stakes testing and accountability, it is an engrained fact that instruction is top priority. The fostering and managing of an effective teachinglearning environment is inevitable. Data is to be collected, analyzed, and evaluated to access the school’s needs and its’ instructional program. Changes must be implemented and monitored to note successes and areas where improvement is still needed. Data driven decisions will be complemented by the use of research-based instructional strategies. Instructional collaboration  of teachers will be an expectation to keep accountability heightened and make adherence to aligned curricula a shared effort. A teacher’s instructional effectiveness is the direct link to student achievement; therefore, it will be an administrative priority. As an instructional leader, I am obligated to nurture teacher instructional development and take the initiative to build such necessary criteria into a school improvement plan

INTRODUCTION

Education has always lived a tension between two functions. On the one hand education is a matter of assuring continuity, that is, passing on what is known. On the other, it is a matter of fostering creativity and change, that is, propelling learners into the unknown. Both of these functions relate equally to knowledge and attitudes, to understanding and behavior. They are simultaneously complementary and conflictive. They touch the essence of the teaching/learning process. We want creativity, but we want it to emerge from what is known and understood. We want continuity, but when the result is lack of ability to solve problems or devise ways to improve the human condition, we are dismayed.
